Workforce Education
through Lincoln Adult Education Center can save you time and money!
Communication
problems between employers and their employees who are not native
speakers of English can result in more than just simple
misunderstandings. At best such problems lead to wasted time and
increased frustrations, and at worst can result in lower employee
retention, and even accidents at the workplace.
Basic Skills
Lincoln Adult
Education Center (LAEC) can help businesses with their employee
training needs. As an adult basic education program working with
learners of English as a second language (ESL) in downtown
Minneapolis, LAEC has the experience and expertise needed to help
train employees who are non-native speakers of English in basic
skills needed to accomplish their jobs successfully.
We will meet with
managers and supervisors to fully understand what the English and
basic skills needs of the employees are, and where the problems
lie. We will then customize classes to meet these needs using the
content of your workplace. Areas of focus could include foundation
skills (English language, speaking, active listening, reading,
writing, math, etc.), interpersonal communication skills, work ethic
and culture skills, information management, etc.
Such customized
classes can take place on site at your workplace, or at Lincoln
Adult Education Center in downtown Minneapolis. The schedule can be
adjusted to the time(s) that work best for you and your employees.
For example, we hold classes at one local bakery twice a week from
7:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. to accommodate those from both the earlier
and later shifts. Similarly, we have held classes at an area hospital
twice a week during an extended break in the morning and evening
shifts.

your employees, please contact Andrea Poulos at
