Buying and Selling People

This history started with this person named Jacob Cook who in the United States bought several slaves, for example Mary Caton was one of his slaves before her death. Slaves were people that were sold like furniture to make money or to satisfy debts of the state. Finally in the 1860’s the slaves were emancipated, given their freedom. After the Civil War was over, the North and South wanted to move past slavery issues.
